Sweet Tea & conversation... a lovely way to spend a day

July 15, 2016

Toasty...eh ?

Somehow , the tone of the day was predicted by the temperature outside this morning . I'd gone outside to refill the feeder for my feathered piggies and happened to notice the reading on the shaded thermometer . It was 80 degrees...at 6:30 AM !!!  By 12:30PM , it was up to 100 !
I know , I know...I can't take winter weather and yearn for summer most of the year . Somehow , those yearnings don't seem to include triple-digit heat and high humidity...sigh...
A friend called and in the course of the conversation asked how the afternoon would be spent . Normally , my clothes would be ironed today for the coming week .
Not today , thank you . The mere thought of laboring over a steamy iron drove me to the chilly depths of the refrigerator for more iced tea . Miss Gabby Kittypuss was most grateful for the ice in her water bowl and was seen languidly sprawled over each and every horizontal sitting surface in the house...shades of Goldilocks ?...looking for one that was "just right "? or was she merely switching when the current one absorbed her body heat and a cooler surface was sought ?
August is coming...a time of the "Dog Days of August" , where it is not uncommon to experience 7-10 days straight of 100 degrees or more...oh , goody..
I am grateful for the bit of air conditioning available here and wherever I go...for ceiling fans , cotton clothing , iced tea and wonderful salads and...yes , for summer!
