Sweet Tea & conversation... a lovely way to spend a day

Update

The injury is mending nicely , thank you . Gone is the wheelchair , we're stepping somewhat smartly with a cane and beginning to resume the lightest of our duties . Permission has been granted by the powers that be ( the doctor ) to resume driving . His "suggestion " was to take someone with me and practice what he sees as possibly slightly rusty skills by driving around in a large deserted parking lot before undertaking ( no pun intended ) anything major . How nice . The only time such a place is to be found is either so late at night as to be past my bedtime ( not good to drive then , anyway !) or to go so far afield as to defeat the idea of "practice " before driving !!...sigh...
Let it be said , just for the record , that calling him in the first place was not my idea . I'd innocently mentioned looking forward to driving soon , in physical therapy and they said...darkly and with foreboding... that I'd better check with him first . My first reaction involved something called a " Brooklyn Raspberry " ( no relation to the delicious , expensive red fruit ) . The "inner child "...the good one...prevailed and the call was duly made . You know , of course , that even without such approval , I'd be driving soon . Cabin Fever is not a pretty thing and , despite what some might say , being driven only to xrays , the doctor's and physical therapy does NOT qualify as " getting out of the house " ! The weather today was absolutely no help...it was sunny , bright and beautiful . The balmy breezes carried the scent and birdsong of spring . My windows were open to enjoy it all ( and warm the house for free !) and yet , there were chores to do ( someone has to do the laundry !) , no time for a jaunt . I yearn to go to the stores...any store !...to the beach...to the hairdresser (looong overdue )...to pick up my friend and escape giggling somewhere...anywhere... Unfortunately , the Weather Channel has been warning us of severe weather for tonight and tomorrow . Wednesday looks clear , but the rest of the week threatens falling wet stuff ...not so safe for users of walkers and canes...sigh...sigh...and yet again...sigh...
