Sweet Tea & conversation... a lovely way to spend a day

Spring...take two...

After a week that was a preview of August , we're back to the seasonal 60's . The problem , of course , is that during the" August week " all the big stores , like Lowe's and Home Depot , put out their new outdoor plants . Why is that a problem ? Here in zone 6 , the frost date hovers closer to May 15th , than the April 15th of old . All those little flowers , purchased with such hope and expectation , are shivering in their petals ! Now that they're in the ground , all that can be done is to water well and cover them at night . sigh...
The crabapple tree out back is competing for attention with the dogwood that blooms a week later . Her gorgeous pink blooms are a striking contrast with the dogwood's white flowers . At their feet are the last daffodils , grape hyacinth and bleeding heart . The lilac in a friend's yard is laden with big lavender heads...just about to burst into fragrant bloom . That's what I enjoy about Spring (besides the-no-more-winter thing !)...the scent ! Everything smells light and floral...and lovely ! The fragrance of a friend's recently purchased alyssum was heavenly !
The Ever Expanding Cat , now leery of toppling tray tables and frantic screams , camps out on the front room's wicker loveseat , while I snack by the TV . She still contemplates the leap , but seems warned off by "The Look " that all mothers perfect for just such times . Though not lulled into a false sense of security that she'll not leap again , a wary truce has settled in . Ah well , life is interesting . I hope your day is delightful !
