Here I sit in Mother's room , newly re-arranged to accommodate the Hospice hospital bed . This little wing chair nestles into a corner , complete with its own lamp and side table ,with a lovely view of our back yard . The setting sun plays with the crystals in the other window , sending dancing rainbows all over...an encouraging and somewhat magical sight . An outdoor party is in full swing at one of the neighbor's in the back . The voices of mixed generations range from deep , gravely grandpas and lilting ladies down to the sweet piping of very little people . The mixture is bound together with liberal laughter . With Mother in the final steps of her life's journey , some might take offence at the gaiety . She will be leaving very soon . The party behind us is celebrating life and family , good food and togetherness...the very things she loved ! A family friend called today to check on us and remembered Mother as a happy , smiling person , whose sense of humor could lighten any situation . She is loved by so many folks , many of whom were helped at one time or another by her generous hand . She is a woman of many talents - a wonderful cook and homemaker , Party Planner ...par excellence , talented seamstress and avid gardener . She loved people and would leap at the opportunity to fill their needs or just spend time together . She was a loving wife and mother...a wonderful woman who will be sorely missed ! May her passing be peaceful...
