I read an article called "No Left Turns ",by Michael Gartner , "editor of newspapers large and small and President of NBC News ". The subject is the life his parents shared .His father stopped driving in 1927 ,figuring "You could walk through life and enjoy it , or drive through life and miss it ." He told his son the secret of a long life . "No Left Turns ." The son , expecting a bizarre answer, was befuddled by this..."What ?" It seems the father and mother had read an article years ago, that older people had more accidents when they made left turns in front of oncoming traffic .So they didn't...ever make left turns ! Since three rights make a left , that's what they did ! Mother was the driver and Father was the navigator...seemed to work out just fine for them !
The end of the article contained instructions for living well , and so I pass them on to you :
"Life is too short to wake up with regrets . So, love the people who treat you right . Forget the ones who don't . Believe everything happens for a reason . If you get a chance , take it . If it changes your life , let it . Nobody promised life would be easy , they just promised it would most likely be worth it ."
By the way , Mr.Gartner won the Pulitzer Prize for editorial writing in 1997...well deserved !
