Out On the Town

Included with that terrific birthday card from my son and daughter-in-law ( back a few posts )were two gift cards from local restaurants . While Mother was at daycare , my best friend and I made a mad dash for one of them . It was a strangely wonderful experience ! Freed from my custodial duties , we relaxed into the moment and relished the entire experience . There we were , in a real restaurant , nothing fast about it , to be served by genuine waitstaff from a menu with no cartoon embellishments . The food arrived at decent intervals , nicely presented and well prepared . Our conversation flowed a natural course , without the usual diversions, and a good time was had by all ! When the bill arrived , it was so nice to be pampered and simply hand in the giftcard ...WHAHOOO !!! There is , of course , the other giftcard...lurking in the deep recesses of my wallet...waiting to revive us from doldrums down the road...nice to fall back on...good kids !
