Sweet Tea & conversation... a lovely way to spend a day

The Alarm "Clock"

As Mother requires constant vigilance , I began to sleep in a daybed in her room.Somehow,it is better to know what she is doing than to puzzle it out from another room . The new medicine, taken at bedtime, eventually helps her to sleep through the night. That doesn't keep her from making all manner of odd noises...huffs and puffs...dream conversations...scratchy episodes with her nails on the taffeta comforter (yes,I could go for a quieter material , but better to know her movements by her noises...she could be getting out of bed to wander and get into all manner of mischief !) Suffice it to say , I don't sleep well . Accustomed to being "on duty ", one sleeps lightly . Lately , there has come a gentle summons when the sun is well up.From the back yard ,there is a songbird who rouses me .The sweet trills and melodious strains are so dear. The bird seems to be either a song sparrow or a house wren, who lets me know there is still time for a quick shower before my charge awakes. It is such a kind way to awaken someone and begin their day !
