Perspective
Last Thursday ,we were to go to a favorite thrift shop .A specific type of furniture was due in and we wanted to be there bright and early . It was not to be . Health concerns of Mother's took precedence to shopping . After a full day of the ER , we were struck by the scope of our gifts. First and foremost , we were sent home with workable strategies for her care . That her diagnosis was far better than we feared was wonderful ! Also, in a situation where lack of hospital beds forced a backup in the ER ,both inside and in the lobby , the behavior of the staff bordered on miraculous ! Despite numerous "inquiries " as to when a particular family's matriarch was to be seen , the nurses were polite , patient, kind and did their best with good nature . When dinner time rolled around , two trays of wonderful food arrived for us,at the hands of dear volunteers . All were so helpful... A precious nephew-by-marriage came to the ER for keys to walk and feed our dog...friends and neighbors offered prayers and whatever help was needed. What could have been traumatic was softened by genuine concern . The birthday dinner that was to follow that weekend was elevated from the usual to a celebration of life ...and life was good !
