Hidden Opportunities

- a friend's partner of 35 years is in poor health. The friend doubts the efficacy of prayer because vibrant good health has not yet been restored to the partner ...yet the partner still lives and they're still together . Mother's abilities to function independently are slowly decreasing .For example ,a once avid reader, she now whispers the words aloud slowly .Yet she still reads and we're still together, with her dry wit and good humor intact . The Sabbath is an opportunity for one-on-one quiet time with the Creator and our family. We fill it with day-off activities instead of fulfilling the intent...yet each week, the day presents itself again for us to be together . Are we so busy with used-to-be's that we fail to appreciate the here-and-now's ? So busy remembering the fish and leeks that we fail to appreciate the manna ? Time ,once spent,is irretrievable ! We cannot count on having time in the future. All we have is the present (as one pop-culture guru says,"They call it the present because it's a gift !! ) What an overlooked opportunity ! We seem to be so busy looking forward to something ,that today passes us by . Look closely at what you have...what you really have and make the most of the gift you've been given .
