Spring !

It is interesting to talk to folks about Spring and find out what events signal its arrival to them . Some point to sprouting bulbs,but those poor things are so desperate for warmer weather,they are prone to pop up on balmy January days ! Returning geese ? Nope,we feed the birds so well,there are now resident flocks that never go south ! I rely on birdsong . There are many types,of course,but after a long,cold winter,there is something distinctive about Spring birdsong . It is light-hearted,hopeful,and definitely flirty . The returning males arrive first and get right to work feathering a nest to dazzle their intended lady love. Nowhere is heard a grumble,nor moan.Rather their joyous and melodious arias float lightly on the breezes.How romantic !
