Sweet Tea & conversation... a lovely way to spend a day

Maggie

I have had to say goodbye to a little friend. My seventeen year old cat has passed away . She died in September, but it is only now I can write about her . Her valiant little soul fought hard against kidney failure and advanced age, dreaming,no doubt,of being silly with catnip, chasing her favorite toy ,curling up in my lap for a good snuggle and jumping onto my bed to sleep in the sun once more . She was so tiny when she first came to me,a miniature study in black and white. We had been through so much together, the good and the bad. Always the Diva, vocal to direct us to do her bidding, especially where her absolute favorite,water-packed tuna , was concerned .She was laid to rest in a beautiful lined basket, looking as if she was curled up in sleep, finally peaceful after her hideous struggle. It was soooo hard to put the lid on and tuck that basket into the ground beside the new rosebush.I struggle, even now ,to write this. Silly, you say ? Have you not found some four-legged friends truer than those with only two ? Spring approaches, however reluctantly, and I long to see the flowers cover my little friend in sheltering bloom . I miss her .
