The storm is over . February's first installment of can-you-top-this was a Nor'Easter blizzard that buried this part of the country in two feet of snow...more or less . Some wits quoted by the weather station were calling it "snow-mageddon "...very funny . What began on Friday and blustered through late Saturday night , has done its worst and moved on . Today is calm , sunny and beautiful .
My walking buddy across the street has adopted a hands-off policy to snow removal . With a full pantry and nowhere to go , she's content to camp out and wait for the homeowners' association to plow her out ...me , too ! Somehow there is no driving need this time to don outdoor apparel and tempt fate with my busy shovel and no brains . There have been many who knocked on the door , offering to clear the driveway . My favorite sights were a 20-something fella whose wife and young son waited in the running car while he worked (the little one was allowed to come out to help for a bit...well bundled...so cute !) and the group of teens , walking up our street , puffy in their Carhartts and knitted caps . The scheduling of the aforementioned HOA plow is odd . They worked into the night on our street . Around 7pm they finished my immediate neighbor and one would think I'd be next . Nope . Plows could be heard up until 11pm on other areas and this morning , they began here at the other end of the street...again moving on before they got to us . Hmmm...
There are mundane things to keep me busy...little household chores that every weekend
brings . Bubbling just under the surface of normality , generally speaking , are the giggles of youth , proclaiming this a Snow Day , with all the escape from reality such brings . There is a temptation to stay in jammies and read....or get dressed properly and make snowmen...or...
aahhh , the possibilities !
Puffy shovellers in jammies with cups of hot snow for beverages working on drives and walks !
