Okay...enough is enough !
Tuesday night it began to snow and bluster , continuing into yesterday , with its worst . The storm dumped two feet of the dreaded white stuff on top of that still on the ground from late last week . We lost power at 5pm last night . With no back-up system for heat and light , we were up that famous creek . Thankfully our stove is gas , not electric , so big stock pots were filled with water and set to heat . The warmth from the burners would be augmented by the hot water to supply some kind heat . All the plants were tucked into the kitchen and faucets set to drip , to avoid freezing , if possible . The Ever Expanding cat was less than thrilled with the descending house temps . Her usual spot , snuggled next to the baseboard , offered little solace . Thankfully , the power was restored by 10pm and the comforting hum of appliances was restored .
This morning brought the cheerful , brilliant sunshine , revealing the accumulation of snow...at least 18" on top of my car and much more on the ground . With the proper preparations from a previous post , this intrepid shoveler set out to clear the way for travel . Two hours later , the car was clean and the driveway done ,except for the two-foot swath - high , deep and frozen - left behind by the snowplow . There had even been time for a bit of whimsey in the form of a snow-lady ! A quick raid of the recycling bucket revealed two Ensure caps (blue circled, for eyes ) and a red top from coffee creamer (cut into a smiling mouth ). Her hair was a new pink fabric-strip replacement mop head , turned upside down . The effect was somewhat odd , but cheerful . It may well be the only one in our development . No comment yet from the neighbors...should be interesting...
READ MY LIPS! NO MORE SNOW!!
ReplyDeleteOhhh I wish so much that you could have taken a picture of the Snow Lady, she sounds very interesting, and I am trying hard to picture her in my mind.
ReplyDeleteSorry you've had so much of the white stuff, that would be a nightmare. We did get some Friday nite and we loved it as we never get it, so you can understand our excitement. But I understand your feelings too.
Along with our snow came the power outages too, I think our power was off for 17 or 18 hours ! It sure made me appreciate our precious electricity. That was wise of you to boil the water and a get a little bit of steam heat.
Happy Valentine's Day sweet Katy ♥
Have a beautiful day!

HI Katy
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday, and hope your staying warm ♥
Happy Sunday Katy ♥
ReplyDeleteI loved the story of the tofu and the chocolate, it sounds really good to me ! I used to eat a lot of tofu dishes and actually the tofu picks up the flavor of anything you add to it. There is also a packaged Tofu Scrambler that I love and used to make all the time. I haven't made it in years now. I will have to go and find me some. I picked up some "fresh" tofu at the Health Food Store "Whole Foods" and didn't remember that I had it and the freshness date was bad on it when I found it in my fridge, I could have cried cause I wanted to try a new recipe with it. Oh well, thankfully I don't think I spent that much on it, but still I hate to waste any kind of food.
Hope your still not getting any snow ! Have a great day !
