Comfort
It was to snow last night . The predictions were that five inches were to fall...again ! Somehow , we were spared , and rain fell instead . My bedroom is in the north corner of the house . Usually , when northeast storms arrive , the winds rage in the form of freight trains or something that sounds alarmingly like a tsunami breaking against the side of my little cottage ! Hardly conducive to restful slumber , as one fears the structure taking flight...and me without ruby slippers ! . . This rain , though heavy , fell without benefit of forceful winds and I was treated to a re-enactment of childhood . It took me back to summer , long ago and far away , when that rain was comforting , enveloping one in gentle sounds that allowed the child to feel safe and just drift peacefully to sleep . That specific sound always calls up sweet memories . Today , the rain continues . The sky is gray , rivulets flow down the streets finally merging with melting snow . Yet...that dear sound continues and the day starts calm...

ReplyDeleteYou brought back so many wonderful childhood memories back for me, it's amazing how you can do that.
If you don't publish your blog someday I will and read it from time to time.
