There is a game , played in a pool , where she who is "it" closes her eyes and calls out "Marco" to the others . Their responding calls of "Polo" help her to locate and tag them , so someone else becomes "it", and the game continues. (Yes , dear readers , there is actually a point to bringing this up ! ) The Ever Expanding Cat chooses to spend time(when not engrossed in her food dish) close to me . I seem to be the only game in town now . She finds a cozy spot close by (if rebuffed from her preferred lap position...it's said cats view people as warm-blooded furniture !) and curls into sleep .
Her problem seems to come when she awakens and finds I've moved to another part of the house . One low and gutteral mmmeeeooowww seems to escalate through curious to a very concerned "I'm all alone in the world" cry, that resounds throughout the house . When I hear her and respond in kind , the game begins ...each calling out in turn , until she appears , looking relieved and chastising . The obligatory pet-and-schmooze follows, all is forgiven , and the process repeats !
Although somewhat comical , the emotional bond is very real and comforting to each of us . How wonderful to be the object of such affection ! Inside this large , constantly shedding creature beats a gentle , loving heart...and she wants to be with me ! How cool is that ?!!....MARCO ?
Hi Katy, I've heard of Marco Polo, but not until I moved South. Some young kids were playing in the pool one day.
ReplyDeleteSo you must be Polo?
I laughed when you said you must be the only game in town and warm blooded furniture *smiles*
Such beautiful, wonderful posts.
You seriously need to write a book!
(many huge hugs and blessings to you)
