The Gap
I love to do projects ! Something about the whole process , from planning to execution just thrills me...makes me feel so alive ! The newest involvement is the re-purposing of Mother's room into an office / guest room . Once things had gone to their designated places , the room was mostly cleared ,the remaining pieces covered with dropcloths and the painting began . The ceiling , of course ,was first . Since the room hadn't been painted since we moved in five years ago , it took a lot of paint and an emergency run for more had to be made mid-way to complete the job . That was Tuesday and after a very long day , brush and roller in hand and pain in neck, it was time for a judgement call . As memory serves , pushing beyond my reasonable limit results in pain , as my back protests the indignity . Usually , the second day after the event is the worst . A decision lay at hand - do I behave with wisdom and wait a day before resuming the madness or push through it so that when the pain really hits , the bulk of the painting is done and the job is not prolonged ? Those who know me well already know reason did not prevail ! Wednesday saw the walls painted and yesterday witnessed the painstaking attention to the trim and closet doors . I tell folks who ask about my involvement in these endeavors that my mind says "Swartzenager" , my body says "Tinkerbell " and the gap is filled with Tylenol ! After a hot shower last night and the first dose of the aforementioned , dawn brought the realization that today , boys and girls , is the day I pay the piper ! Look as I may at the few places where wall paint got bumped onto the ceiling , needing a touch-up , or at lighter pieces of furniture that could come back into the room , look is all that may be done today ! I am firmly in the gap where Tuesday evening's decision placed me . I should be somewhat remorseful , and yet there is a certain rebellious satisfaction is seeing that beautiful color on the walls , under a pristine white ceiling !
