Sweet Tea & conversation... a lovely way to spend a day

Midnight

We share our home with a furry friend . She sleeps away most of the day , moving from one forbidden spot to another , (with brief, but frequent stops at the food dish) . Her favorite is a white chair, where her black fur makes stark contrast . As she has a phobic habit of biting off her belly fur , there's quite a bit of the stuff to contend with ! It is always humbling when company arrives..you think all is well and then...that white chair is zebra-striped again !
Midnight is , of course , a cat . She proves on a daily basis the validity of that motto :"Dogs have masters...cats have staff !" Mother's aide has gotten to the point of insisting I feed the cat before leaving , as Midnight will opportune them both in full voice , if I forget ! She imperiously jumps into Mother's temporarily empty chair , knowing full well the aide is not a "cat person " and has no idea of how to move her and re-install Mother to her rightful place ! Ah , the goings-on in my absence !
Strange that she and Mother are in the winding-down period of their lives...green-eyed Midnight is twelve years old and comparable in cat-years to her blue-eyed fellow-traveler . Each requires special treatment to keep them comfortable and reasonably content . Each needs to be appreciated in the time remaining...each will be sorely missed . All that can be done is to deal with the new day and whatever it brings...loving them in their individual ,dear quirkiness...
