Daydreams - Part Two

As stated in the previous post , a tropical getaway would be wonderful !!! HGTV had a program on last night where a British family wanted to buy a vacation home in the Dominican Republic . The homes they toured were lovely stucco pieces of paradise ...well laid out with spacious rooms , pools, and gracious landscaped yards for entertaining. The sun shone , the breezes gently blew and they picked a beauty !
I would find it hard to leave such a place . Whether it's finally being warm or the fantasy lifestyle...I can easily see myself living there full time. Reality intrudes,as it always does , to remind the dazzled that those poor folks got hammered last summer during hurricane season . Mother and I spent a week in the Bahamas almost a year after a horrible hurricane hit.The devastation was still most evident...shops closed...roofs torn off...plots of land savagely scraped clean of vegetation . The cleanup was steady , but without the tourist funding, somewhat slow.
There needs be a tradeoff here . Not exactly "no pain / no gain " , but perhaps a respectful appreciation of unspoiled beauty ...that a price is always paid for what we want...that we are actually not in control , but are at the mercy of the elements . We're to play nice and remember our kindergarten lessons . Notwithstanding , those photos still elicit sighs....
