Cravings

Isn't it interesting how weather can trigger certain cravings ? Sometimes it's for an activity...like a perfect day,in years gone by, for a motorcycle outing...or a trip to the beach...or to weed/prune/mulch the garden...or a long walk. Other times spur food cravings...Summer's perfect open-faced tomato sandwich...a fragrant, juicy, tree-ripe peach...buttered homemade bread, still warm from the oven... Today was the day for The Big Breakfast ( which usually signals heightened nesting activity later ). The usual bowl of cereal and fruit just would not do . What was called for was grilled homemade muffins, turkey bacon , herbed eggs scrambled with cheddar cheese and a large mug of hot green tea . Greed also demanded hash brown potatoes (which I do so enjoy , when they are all crispy) ,but hunger vetoed that vote ! The repast was duly prepared and consumed and the smile of satisfaction lingers still ! A taciturn aunt used to say , "Small minds - small amusements !" Oh,well , better to savor the available joys than miss them, waiting for the big stuff that may never come ! I'm off to reduce some unsuspecting mess to order...Ah,it's a good morning !
