"Birdsong"
In the effort to finally search through all the accumulated stuff of life , I came across this poem and wish to share :
"He doesn't know the world at all
Who stays in his nest and doesn't go out .
He doesn't know what birds know best
Nor what I want to sing about ,
That the world is full of loveliness .
When dewdrops sparkle in the grass
And Earth's aflood with morning light ,
A blackbirk sings upon a bush
To greet the dawning after night .
Then I know how fine it is to live .
Hey , try to open up your heart
To beauty ; go to the woods someday
And weave a wreath of memory there .
Then if the tears obscure your way
You'll know who wonderful it is
To be alive ."

Wow, that poem is seriously hitting me right in the soul, and the fact that it came from a child in the Terezin concentration camp makes it incredibly powerful. It’s just radiating so much resilience and hope. That line about not knowing the world if you stay in your nest is such a stunning reminder to seek out the loveliness, even when things are heavy. Thank you so much for sharing that beautiful, heartbreaking piece of memory.
