There have been so many goodbyes in the past year or so...so much loss...
Yet , those of you who care need to know .
The Ever Expanding Cat is no more , at least in this physical plane . She breathed
her last breath Friday night , October 29th .
We knew she was on a downward path (see previous posts ) and made
every effort for her comfort . Her beds were plush , cozy and warm...high-end
kitty food was offered in the hope of tempting her to eat . There was much
snuggling and petting...lap time duly offered and accepted . And yet , it was obvious she
was leaving us . Midnight , aka The Ever Expanding Cat , now unsteady of gait
and increasingly weak, chose her spot and never rose again .
After the horror of the other pets' cancerous suffering and hideous
departures , that she would simply fade away , free from pain and suffering...
purring at our stroking even then...
was a huge blessing for her...and for us . Midnight was a delicate ,
quiet , feminine little girl with sable-soft black fur and beautiful green eyes .
A gentle end was always the hope for her...and so it was .
She now rests with the beloved kitties who have gone before . It is a lovely spot
where the sun shines ...a place wild strawberries and moss will cover in spring .
Her things will be taken to the local Humane Society for use in their elderly
cat retirement section...for their care and comfort...seems only fitting to pass
them on...to fill the needs of others .
The house is very quiet now..a strange void after fourteen years as a
kitty servant . All those precious four-legged darlings have gone...each a
special blessing whose very existence brought joy and love into my life...
I am so grateful for them all...and miss them terribly .

Leaves have drifted over a bit and its quiet there today. She's resting peacefully, dreaming.
ReplyDeleteHello dear Katy, so very sorry to hear about your beloved kitty that you had for so long. I lost mine last year after 16 years. I know it's hard and I know you will miss her. It's a blessing she went so peacefully.
ReplyDeleteI've missed you and I somehow lost your link. I went back through my comments and still couldn't reach you that way. Then miraculously I remembered the name of your blog. I do have a different link now too.
I won't lose you again.
