Sweet Tea & conversation... a lovely way to spend a day

September 06, 2010

What a relief to come here again ! I have missed you all !
This has been an interesting year...a time of mourning , self evaluation , option examination and,
amid the encouragement and patience of friends , a time for the first of many giant leaps of
faith . Leaping has a way of keeping one very busy . There's the preparation , the freefall ( with or without screaming ) and the landing...each far more complicated and time consuming that at first anticipated . Ah , well .
Each day has been so fully scheduled that the prospect of an afternoon to myself was a bit disorienting . I eased my way into unaccustomed freedom by attending first to the mundane -
ironing , dishwashing, and kitty litter cleaning . Exciting , I know... finally realizing that this was Labor Day...the unofficial end of summer...and what I really wanted to do was to go to the
beach , for the first time this season ! The days of bathing-suited splendor have long passed but the burning need was actually to smell the salt air and to let the breezes ruffle my hair as the waves lapped at my toes .
My departure time of 4:30pm seemed to be ideal , as the traffic from the summer visitors was
heavy westward toward the Parkway and I was headed eastward ! There was time to chat with the ranger at the park entrance and drive in a leisurely manner to the lot several miles down the road . It was all I hoped for ! The east wind kept away the biting black flies and all the aforementioned needs were met as the warm sun sparkled on beautiful bluegreen waves...aaahhhhhh... There was a sense of deep peace that lingers even now...a sense of connection and grounding . People speak of meditation as " centering "
and I suppose that's what happened to me today . I am profoundly grateful for the blessings great and small that have come...on legs (two or four ) or wings , etc. . Whatever the method of delivery , they are keeping me company on a new path . How cool is that ?!?
