Sweet Tea & conversation... a lovely way to spend a day

Musings...

Good Morning ! I sit by a window open to the early light...observing the mist generated by the warmth of the rising sun evaporating the dew from a neighbor's roof . It is a magical site...one waits to sight tiny faeries flitting off to their morning duties !
This has been a "challenging" few weeks ! The catheter duties were time-consuming and the constant monitoring to prevent its untimely removal - exhausting . Thankfully , it has been removed and the systems seem to be operating normally, which precludes its re-insertion . We are back to the usual routine (whatever that is !), but Mother is not herself . This illness has diminished her abilities even more ...more withdwawn , more fearful , more dependant...
I happened to be in Walmart for some of her supplies and was foolish enough to glance at the Mother's Day cards as I went by . There in all their glory were the very ones normally chosen for her ..."You are my very best friend...I'm so glad to have you in my life to share the joys and sorrows...You have been a wonderful example of what a woman should be"...and on...and on...
There were , of course , instant tears...for the cards never to be sent again...for the lack of understanding for the day and her amazing contribution over the years for its meaning and importance . The best that can be done is to make every day a loving , patient gift - appreciating whatever she is capable of that day .
I wish you all , near and far , known and unknown , a wonderful Mother's Day ! If not surrounded by those you love , may you be warmed by dear memories , and send yourself flowers !
