I have a passion for cookbooks ! It comes to me honestly down the line of maternal ancestors who were similarly inclined. Novels may come and nonfiction may go,but cookbooks go on forever ! One of my favorite quirky finds was in a thrift store .
The book is called Recipes To Die For . It had fundraiser-type binding and with that kind of a title , I couldn't wait to see whom it was to benefit ! The proper page was located and there it was..."Proceeds to benefit the Council for Public Awareness of Cemeteries "!!!!!!
The first reaction was one of helpless laughter at the fitting irony of it...the second was to check out the recipes . I must say , the title is absolutely correct...the food produced from that volume was wonderful ! Banana Nut Loaf (wonderful baked in muffin tins and greedily consumed for breakfast...leftovers are properly warmed and served under ice cream...just so you know !)...Zucchini Bread with walnuts and pineapple...Chicken with 40 Cloves of Garlic...ahhhhh , good food...
Let me know what you've found to tickle your funny bone...Have a great day !
Hi Katy :) that was funny indeed about the irony of the cookbook. I collect cookbooks too, I especially love the ones that have little stories and quotes in them.
ReplyDeletei did laugh hard last night when i saw the news and President Bush had shoes or boots thrown at him. I laughed so hard because he was a great dodger, and it almost looked like he thought it was a game at first. what a great sport LOL. of course it wasn't funny to have shoes thrown at him, it was just the look on his face and his quick reactions to dodge the shoe. oh well, i'm not right sometimes lol
to bad about your Mom refusing the bath. i hope they can figure something out!
the red-tailed hawk sounds so nice to have seen. i bet he was a beauty. sounds like i need to go and check out some thrift shops!
