Sweet Tea & conversation... a lovely way to spend a day

Something In The Air

Well ,here we are in the last part of September. The leaves show brief flashes of color among the mostly green canopy. The days are still warm and reality only intrudes when the sun sets . We are edging, ever so reluctantly, toward Fall . The McCoun apples,my favorite, are ripe and appearing in the farmers' markets in brimming baskets. There is an elusive quality in these days...of being at the threshhold of something new and different. Living in a region of clearly defined seasons can be rather exciting. The eye searches for the first crocus;the first local tomatoes and corn;the first burgundy leaf;the first snowflake .This is not to say that we welcome each season gladly...on the contrary,Summer is gripped in clenched hands, loath to release her for Fall . Summer clothes aren't stored until the snow falls(we might, hope against hope, have a southern holiday this winter ???). As much as we enjoy the heartier meals of the colder months,we'd gladly chuck them for year-long moderate weather! Oh,to have warm toes all year long ! Back, sadly to reality. The warm days are to be savored and warm socks procured !
